Activists in the South Caucasus marked 17 May - the international day against homophobia and transphobia with small activities, even as continued intollerance towards the gay community in wider society remains a cause of concern.
In Tbilisi a number of activists held a protest in front of the main government building, under the shadow of a heavy police presence. Some radical priests and their supporters, who aimed to disrupt the protest were kept far away.

"I will not express too much optimism, this is a difficult problem, and the experience of our negotiations proves that it won't end quickly", the Russian Foreign Minister said in Yerevan on Tuesday (21 November)
