Homophobia remains widespread in Caucasus region
18 May 2017

Activists in the South Caucasus marked 17 May - the international day against homophobia and transphobia with small activities, even as continued intollerance towards the gay community in wider society remains a cause of concern.

In Tbilisi a number of activists held a protest in front of the main government building, under the shadow of a heavy police presence. Some radical priests and their supporters, who aimed to disrupt the protest were kept far away.
