Russian president Vladimir Putin on Thursday (27 September) payed a short visit to Baku.
The Russian leader attended the World Judo Championships, addressed a meeting of the Russia-Azerbaijan Inter-regional Forum, and had a one to one meeting with the Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev.
"For us, Russia is a very important and valuable partner, a friend, a neighbour with whom we have the highest level of relations. I think that in the coming years we will follow the path of building up our cooperation, creating even better conditions for the business structures of our countries and strengthening cooperation in all areas", said the Azerbaijani president before the meeting.
"The erection of fences by de-facto authorities of South Ossetia backed by Russian border guards in the vicinity of Gugutiantkari village hinders freedom of movement and will deprive people from the local area from accessing orchards and water resources" said a statement issued by the EU Delegation in Tbilisi
