Toivo Klaar, the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus on Tuesday met in Yerevan with Armenian prime minister Nikol Pashinyan. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wictorin.
Armenian media, citing the prime minister's office, said that Mr Pashinyan expressed satisfaction with the development of Armenia-EU relations and noted the intense bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting the two sides discussed issues related to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Prime Minister Pashinyan said Armenia is committed to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group process.
The sources said that the prime minister attached importance to the involvement of civil society in Nagorno-Karabakh in confidence building activities, and said this will contribute to a constructive atmosphere to in the negotiation process.
During his stay in Armenia Toivo Klaar also met other senior Armenian officials.
