Russia continues with large scale military drills in South Ossetia

Russia is continuing with large scale military exercises in South Ossetia.

As part of the drills, on Wednesday (15 July), gunners of the 4th Russian military base of the 58th combined arms army of the Southern Military District (Southeast Military District), together wil local military units are participating in tactical exercises in the mountains, the press service of the Russian Southeast Military District reports.

At the Dzarz mountain range, artillerymen, with the support of unmanned aerial vehicle, carried out reconnaissance of the targets and prepared data for firing and fire control of artillery units equipped with Akatsia self-propelled howitzers and 2C11 Sani mortars. Artillery crews conducted live firing on single and group targets at a range of 1 to 15 km.

In total, about 800 military personnel of the Southern Military District took part in the exercises, more than 60 units of weapons and military equipment, as well as unmanned aircraft, were involved.

In all 3500 Russian soldiers and more than 800 units of military equipment are participating in the drills.
